  • Ronel Blanco SP | HOU

Astros' Ronel Blanco: Ejected after substance check

Blanco was ejected from Tuesday's game against the A's ahead of the fourth inning after umpires examined his glove for a foreign substance, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The umpires confiscated Blanco's glove for further examination from Major League Baseball, and the 30-year-old righty will be hit with an automatic 10-game suspension if it's determined he used an illegal substance while on the mound. Blanco has emerged as a crucial part of Houston's rotation this year, carrying a 2.23 ERA and 1.02 WHIP alongside a 41:20 K:BB across 44.1 innings through his first seven starts. He had fired three scoreless innings while striking out four batters and walking one before getting tossed from Tuesday's contest.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Late scratch Tuesday

Garver (undisclosed) was scratched from the Mariners' lineup Tuesday versus the Royals.

Garver was originally set to operate as the team's designated hitter and bat third Tuesday, but he'll now take a seat. It's unclear what caused the 33-year-old to be scratched and more information will likely be provided following the contest. In the meantime, Mitch Haniger will slot in at designated hitter while Sam Haggerty will enter the lineup in left field and bat ninth against Kansas City.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Beginning mound work Wednesday

Phillips (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Phillips has been on the injured list with a strained right hamstring since May 5, and he resumed playing catch Friday. He will presumably throw multiple bullpen sessions before progressing to facing live hitters, though he shouldn't take long to build back up as a reliever.

  • Bobby Miller SP | LAD

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Simulating innings Wednesday

Miller (shoulder) will throw two simulated innings at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Assuming all goes well Wednesday, Miller will move onto either a three-inning sim game or begin a rehab assignment with one of the Dodgers' minor-league affiliates. Either way, the 25-year-old right-hander will most likely require multiple appearances in the minors as he continues building up to a starter's workload.

  • Gavin Sheets RF | CHW

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Resting against southpaw

Sheets isn't in the White Sox's lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

With southpaw Mitchell Parker set to start on the mound for Washington, the lefty-hitting Sheets will take a seat for the nightcap. Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Ortega and Tommy Pham will start across the outfield while Sheets rests.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Idle for nightcap

Lee isn't in the White Sox's lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus Washington.

Lee went 1-for-4 with a strikeout during a loss in Game 1, and he'll get a breather while Martin Maldonado starts behind the dish to conclude Tuesday's activities.

  • Victor Robles CF | WAS

Nationals' Victor Robles: Sitting for nightcap

Robles is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

Robles will take a seat after he went 1-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly in the Nationals' 6-3 win over Chicago in Tuesday's matinee. Eddie Rosario will slide over to right field while Ildemaro Vargas enters the lineup in left field and bats eighth against the White Sox.

  • Jorge Soler DH | SF

Giants' Jorge Soler: Hit in head during BP

Soler (shoulder) hit on the field Tuesday but walked off with a trainer after suffering an apparent injury, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Tuesday marked the first time Soler has hit off the field since landing on the IL, but his session came to an abrupt end when he fouled off a ball that ricocheted off the top of the cage and hit him in the head. It's unclear how severe the damage is, but the 32-year-old was at least shaken up enough for him to be shut down for the day. The Giants will take a closer look at him and may offer more information on his status in the near future.

  • Owen White RP | TEX

Rangers' Owen White: Returns to minors

The Rangers optioned White to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

The right-hander surrendered three runs over on inning Monday against Cleveland and has now been demoted to make room for Tuesday's starter Jack Leiter. White has surrendered six earned runs in his two MLB appearances this season and has a 5.70 ERA over 23.2 frames at Triple-A.

  • Blake Snell SP | SF

Giants' Blake Snell: Next rehab start Friday

Snell (thigh) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Snell fired four perfect innings while striking out seven batters during his first rehab outing at Single-A San Jose, though he'll be facing some tougher competition during his next start. Assuming everything goes smoothly, Friday is expected to be the 31-year-old's final game in the minors, putting him in line to return from the IL and start May 23 against the Pirates.
