Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Eyeing weekend return
Mariners manager Scott Servais said Crawford (oblique) will play another rehab game for Triple-A Tacoma before likely returning from the 10-day injured list ahead of this weekend's series in Baltimore, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Crawford, who has been on the shelf since April 25 with a Grade 1 right oblique strain, kicked off his rehab assignment Tuesday, going 1-for-4 in Tacoma's 8-5 win over Salt Lake while playing seven innings at shortstop. Assuming Crawford feels fine physically coming out of his second rehab outing, he should be ready to rejoin the big club this weekend and settle back in as the team's everyday shortstop. Dylan Moore will shift back into a utility role once Crawford is back with the team.

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Out Wednesday with back spasms
Garver (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
He'll remain on the bench for the second day in a row while he manages upper-back spasms. Mitch Haniger will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Mariners' designated hitter while Garver rests up.

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Out Wednesday with hamstring injury
Polanco (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Polanco will take a seat for the second day in a row while he manages a tight right hamstring. The Mariners are viewing him as day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list could become more realistic if Polanco is still not available to start coming out of Thursday's team off day.

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Sent down to Triple-A
The Mariners optioned Haggerty to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Haggerty hasn't been playing much and has done little in the opportunities he has received this season, recording one hit in 15 at-bats. Dominic Canzone (shoulder) was reinstated from the injured list and will take over Haggerty's spot on the 26-man active roster.

Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Returns from IL
The Mariners reinstated Canzone (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
The Mariners weren't expected to bring Canzone back from the IL until this weekend, but he'll end up joining the club for its series finale with the Royals after he checked out fine following his third rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Prior to landing on the shelf April 15 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, Canzone had taken hold of a strong-side platoon role in left field. Those duties have largely fallen to Luke Raley during his absence, and though Raley has enjoyed a hot run at the plate of late, Canzone will step into the starting lineup in his first game back with the team. He'll man left field and bat seventh Wednesday against the Royals.

Mariners' Felnin Celesten: Exceeding high expectations
Celesten is hitting .452 with two home runs, one steal, and more walks (six) than strikeouts (five) through eight games in the Arizona Complex League.
The top international signee in the 2023 J-15 class, Celesten was unable to play in official games last year due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain, but he's at the age-appropriate level for his pro debut and appears to have been worth the wait. A physical, athletic shortstop with loud tools, Celesten looks the part of a future top-10 prospect, and so far his hit tool has been better than advertised.

Mariners' Luke Raley: Pops third homer
Raley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.
Raley continues to profile as one of the inconsistent Mariners' more reliable hitters after a slow start to his team tenure, with Tuesday's homer his second in as many games. Raley's season average and OPS are up to a solid .265 and .729, respectively, and he sports a .357/.419/.714 slash line over the 31 plate appearances encompassing his last nine games.

Mariners' Mitch Haniger: Perfect at plate in loss
Haniger went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Royals.
Haniger took Kansas City closer James McArthur deep in the ninth inning, but it didn't turn into a rally for the Mariners. The homer was Haniger's second in May and sixth of the year, but he's hitting a poor .182 (8-for-44) this month. He started the season well, and he's now slashing .214/.277/.372 with 21 RBI, 17 runs scored and five doubles through 40 contests. Haniger continues to fill a near everyday role between right field and designated hitter.

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Strong until late homer
Gilbert (3-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Royals.
Gilbert allowed just four baserunners over the first six innings. He went back out for the seventh, but two walks and a Nelson Velazquez home run ended his outing in unfortunate fashion. It's a significant improvement on the eight-run fiasco he had in Minnesota in his last start, but it's still a second straight loss for 27-year-old. He's pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB over 58.2 innings across nine starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees his next time out.

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Battling back spasms
Garver was scratched from Seattle's lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against Kansas City due to upper-back spasms, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
The 33-year-old backstop missed a few games in March due to back spasms, though manager Scott Servais said Garver's current injury is unrelated to his previous issue. No timeline was given for his return, but it's possible the M's hold him out for a game or two in order to allow him to properly recover.

Mariners' Colt Emerson: Walk machine for Modesto
Emerson has a .295/.457/.443 slash line with two home runs, one stolen base, 12 strikeouts and 16 walks in 16 games for Single-A Modesto.
Emerson has at least two walks in five straight games while striking out twice over that stretch. He is in complete control at the plate and is hitting the ball hard for his age (31.3 Hard%), but his 57.1 percent groundball rate is capping his power output early this season.

Mariners' Lazaro Montes: Locked in at Single-A
Montes is slashing .308/.417/.533 with six home runs, a 16 percent strikeout rate and a 14.6 percent walk rate in 30 games for Single-A Modesto.
The 19-year-old Cuban slugger has arguably been the most impressive prospect at Single-A through the first five weeks of the season. Everyone knows about his 70-grade raw power, it will just come down to how good Montes' hit tool is. Thus far, he's not showing any weaknesses against Single-A pitchers, and Montes may soon get promoted to High-A Everett, which offers a hitter-friendly home park.

Mariners' Ty France: Belts third homer
France went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Royals in a 6-2 win Monday.
France provided a pair of insurance runs with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that doubled Seattle's lead from two to four. The long ball was his first since April 27, and during the 13-game homerless stretch he had batted just .191 with a 2:15 BB:K. France's offensive numbers are down across the board this season, with a significant contributing factor being a 24.3 percent strikeout rate that is on pace for his worst mark since his 2019 rookie campaign.

Mariners' Luke Raley: Enjoys big game Monday
Raley went 3-for-4 with a home run, two total runs, three total RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 6-2 victory against Kansas City.
Raley put Seattle on the scoreboard in the second inning with a 432-foot, two-run blast to to center field, and he added a run-scoring single in the third. The 29-year-old was batting just .218 through the end of April, but he's now at .266 with a strong start to May. Though nine games this month, he's gone 9-for-24 (.375) with two long balls, six RBI and seven runs.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Collects sixth save
Munoz earned a save against the Royals on Monday, striking out three batters in 1.1 perfect innings.
Munoz was summoned from the bullpen in the top of the eighth inning with two outs, Seattle up by two runs and the tying run at the plate. He struck out Nelson Velazquez to end the threat, then got some stress reduction when the Mariners' offense put up two runs in the bottom of the frame. From there, Munoz closed things out without incident, fanning two of the three batters he squared off against in the ninth frame. The save was his sixth of the season and first since April 30, though no other Seattle pitcher recorded a save in the meantime. Munoz has looked great since his lone blown save of the campaign April 21, tossing 9.1 scoreless frames during which he's posted a 10:1 K:BB across eight appearances.
