Marlins' Jhonny Pereda: Sent to Triple-A
The Marlins optioned Pereda to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old was called up by the Marlins but will return to Triple-A now that Christian Bethancourt is back from the bereavement list. Pereda is 0-for-5 in his five big-league games this season but has an .804 OPS in 83 plate appearances for Jacksonville.

The Marlins recalled Pereda from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Pereda has slashed .275/.398/.406 across 83 plate appearances in the minors this season, and he will now come up from Triple-A to give the Marlins additional depth behind the plate while Christian Bethancourt (bereavement) is out. Pereda went 0-for-5 in three games during his first stint in the majors in April.

Pereda served as the No. 2 catcher behind Nick Fortes while Christian Bethancourt (illness) was on the 10-day injured list. but he's no longer needed with Bethancourt getting activated Wednesday. The 28-year-old went hitless in five plate appearances in what was his first stint in the big leagues.

Marlins' Jhonny Pereda: Added to roster
The Marlins selected Pereda's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Pereda will back up Nick Fortes at catcher while Christian Bethancourt (illness) is out. The 27-year-old has gone 9-for-26 at the plate for Jacksonville this season and would be making his major-league debut if/when he gets into a game.

Reds' Jhonny Pereda: Invited to Reds camp
Pereda signed a minor-league deal with the Reds on Tuesday and received an invitation to spring training.
The 26-year-old backstop spent all of 2022 in the Giants organization at the Triple-A level, where he slashed .272/.371/.379 over 246 plate appearances -- all significant improvements from his 2021 campaign. If he can impress in spring training, Pereda will have an outside chance at making the 26-man roster as a backup catcher, but he would have to beat out Luke Maile and Chuckie Robinson for that to happen.

Pereda joined the Giants as a non-roster invitee Monday, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.
The 25-year-old has yet to make his big-league debut. In 25 games for Triple-A Worcester last season, his first action at that level, he hit just .247/.318/.273.

The 24-year-old was acquired from the Cubs as a player to be named later in March, and his new team will get its first look at him in summer training. Pereda spent 2019 at the Double-A level and slashed .241/.336/.305 in 98 contests.
