Adell went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Saturday's win over the Royals. Adell jumped on a hanging slider with two men on in the second and launched it 419 feet for his seventh home run of the season and the third in his last four games. The outfielder has also hit safely in five consecutive contests, racking up six RBI over that stretch to go along with five runs scored. Despite those impressive numbers, Adell is still batting just .176 in May and has recorded multiple hits in only one game this month.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Jo Adell: Swats homer Friday
Adell went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Kansas City. Adell accounted for the Angels' only run with a 436-foot solo shot to center field. That held up until the ninth inning, when the Royals scored twice off Los Angeles closer Carlos Estevez to emerge with a comeback win. Adell has put together a modest four-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 5-for-15 with two homers and three RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Goes deep Wednesday
Adell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a additional RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 victory versus the Pirates. Adell put the Angels on the board with a solo shot to center field in the third inning, and he added a run-scoring single in the fifth. He finished with his first multi-hit game since April 27. With Mike Trout set to miss extended time due to knee surgery, Adell has become a near-everyday starter in the outfield. However, he's struggled so far this month, slashing .125/.185/.250 with seven strikeouts over seven games, though he does have three RBI and a pair of steals.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Swipes sixth bag
Adell went 0-for-2 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Guardians. Adell has been quite aggressive on the basepaths this season, as he's already set a career high with six thefts, though he has also been caught five times, tied for most in the majors. With Mike Trout (knee) set to miss extended time, Adell should get the opportunity to start in the outfield on a near-everyday basis. The former top prospect is looking to finally break through at the major-league level, and he's fared pretty well so far this season with a .265/.320/.515 slash line, four homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs through 75 plate appearances.... Angels' Jo Adell: Continues hot stretch
Adell went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a 6-5 win against the Phillies. Adell batted out of the No. 2 spot for the first time this season and immediately made his presence felt with a solo homer in the first inning. The long ball was his second in three games, and he's knocked in five runs over that stretch. Adell has been swinging a hot bat since mid-April -- he's reached base safely in 10 straight contests and is slashing .407/.484/.815 with three home runs, eight RBI, five runs and a stolen base during that span.... Angels' Jo Adell: Batting second Monday
Adell will start in right field and bat second in Monday's contest versus the Phillies. It's Adell's seventh straight start in right field and the first time this season that he's batted higher than sixth. The 25-year-old is sporting a .327/.382/.592 batting line with three home runs and five stolen bases over his first 21 games this season and, perhaps most importantly, he's striking out at just a 23.6 percent clip. Adell came into this season with a career 35.4 percent strikeout rate at the major-league level.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Season-high three RBI in loss
Adell went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's loss to the Twins. Adell launched a two-out, two-run homer in his first trip to the plate to bring the Angels back within two runs of Minnesota before adding an RBI single in his next at-bat, giving him a season-high three RBI in the contest. It also marked the outfielder's first three-hit performance of the campaign, and he's now tallied multiple hits in three of his last six games. Adell is batting .350 in April with three homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Nabs third straight start
Adell will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. He'll be awarded a third consecutive start after going 3-for-6 with a home run, a double, two RBI and an additional run scored over the past two games, while also reaching base twice after being hit by pitches. Since he first broke into the big leagues in 2020, Adell has struggled to have much staying power in the majors while maintaining high strikeout rates, but he's shown some progression on that front so far this season. Through 39 plate appearances, Adell has struck out just eight times (20.5 percent).... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Homers, swipes bag in loss
Adell went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Orioles. Adell produced the Angels' first run with a solo homer in the seventh inning. He then helped in the team's attempt to try to rally in the ninth, leading off the frame with a hit-by-pitch, advancing to second on a single and subsequently stealing third, though he was ultimately stranded there. Adell continues to receive sporadic playing time -- this was just his second start in the Angels' past six contests -- but he's done well when on the field, slashing .281/.314/.531 with two home runs, five RBI, seven runs and six steals through 35 plate appearances.... Angels' Jo Adell: Back to bench Wednesday
Adell is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Adell will head back to the bench after starting each of the last three games while going 2-for-10 with four strikeouts and getting caught on both of his stolen-base attempts. Despite the recent spike in starting opportunities, Adell shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a part-time player in the Anaheim outfield until he puts together a strong stretch of production at the plate.... Angels' Jo Adell: Makes impact in Wednesday's loss
Adell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rays. Getting the start in center field and batting seventh, Adell drove a Kevin Kelly sinker over the wall in right field for his first homer of the season. He then added a two-out single and a steal in the eighth, but he snuffed out the rally with a mental error -- he lost track of the count and over-ran the bag on his steal, thinking the batter had struck out. The 25-year-old outfielder is showing signs of finally putting it together in the majors, going 4-for-15 with a 1:2 BB:K, three steals, three RBI and four runs, but mistakes like Wednesday's won't endear him to manager Ron Washington. Still, with Aaron Hicks and Mickey Moniak both struggling at the plate, the door is open for Adell to claim a much larger role.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Starting in center field Wednesday
Adell will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game in Miami. It's Adell's second start in six games, although he did come off the bench in Monday's contest, adding two steals and an RBI. While at-bats in the early going have been tough to come by so far for Adell, the team may eventually give him one last look in a regular role.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Swipes two bags Monday
Adell went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases in Monday's 7-4 win against Miami. Adell began the game on the bench but came into the contest as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. He flied out in his first at-bat before helping to generate a critical insurance run in the ninth inning when he singled, stole both second and third base, and crossed the plate on a balk. Adell has been used mostly as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement so far this season, as he's started only one game. There's a path for him to see more starts in right field, though Mickey Moniak and Aaron Hicks are also competing for playing time there.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Provides lone run with solo shot
Adell went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Twins while also drawing a walk. Adell jumped on the first pitch he saw from Sonny Gray in the top of the fourth and launched it over the wall in center field, giving the Angels their only run of the game. The right fielder also drew a free pass on the afternoon and has now walked and scored at least one run in three straight games. The home run was Adell's third of the season and the second in his last three contests.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Rips second homer
Adell went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-4 loss against the Rays. Adell hit his second home run of the season, his first since June 8. The 24-year-old has started all three games since returning from an oblique injury Tuesday. Adell should receive a large share of playing time over the remaining nine Angels games and has a .936 OPS in 27 big-league plate appearances this year.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Kicks off rehab assignment
Adell (oblique) began a rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A Salt Lake and went 3-for-9 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two additional runs between two games over the weekend. Adell's pair of games at Salt Lake were his first at any level since July 8, after he was shut down for more than two months while recovering from a left oblique strain. Given his lengthy absence, Adell could end up sticking with Salt Lake through the end of its season next Sunday to regain his timing at the plate. If all goes well, Adell may then be a candidate to return from the 60-day injured list for the final week of the Angels' season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Jo Adell: Rehabbing in Salt Lake
Adell (oblique) reported to Triple-A Salt Lake last week to continue his rehab program, but he has yet to receive clearance for game action, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. "Where that puts him on a timeline for [a return] this year, I'm not sure," manager Phil Nevin said of Adell. "We'll see how the next few days go for him." Adell has been on the shelf since July 14 with a left oblique strain, but he resumed baseball activities at the Angels' spring training facility in Arizona in late August and appears set to continue those workouts in Utah. The Angels will presumably reassess Adell over the weekend before determining if he'll be ready to play in rehab games next week for the final six games of Salt Lake's season. If Adell is able to take part in those rehab games without incident, he could then be a realistic option to return from the Angels' 60-day injured list for the final week of the MLB season.... Angels' Jo Adell: Hitting in cage
Adell (oblique) has started hitting in the cage, and there is some hope he could return this season, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. He will be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list Sept. 7, but Adell probably needs at least a brief rehab assignment before he joins the big club; therefore, a mid-September return seems more likely than one in the early part of the month. Once fully healthy and active, it seems likely the Angels would give Adell opportunities down the stretch for internal evaluation purposes. Adell has a .271/.376/.580 slash line with 23 home runs and nine steals in 72 games at Triple-A this year. He struck out six times in 14 plate appearances in the big leagues.... See More ... Angels' Jo Adell: To 60-day IL
Adell (oblique) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday. He last played July 8, so this move means Adell won't return until Sept. 7 at the earliest. Jordyn Adams' contract was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move, and Adams, along with newcomer Randal Grichuk, will help provide outfield depth in the short term.... See More ... Angels' Jo Adell: Lands on IL with oblique strain
Adell (left oblique strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 11. Teammate Zach Neto just returned from an oblique strain after missing exactly a month, so Adell's absence could stretch into August. With Neto getting activated, the Angels could continue to experiment with Luis Rengifo in the outfield, at least against lefties. Adell was hitting .231 with a 42.9 percent strikeout rate over his last five games.... See More ... See Less
