Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. Fitzgerald has recorded three multi-hit games this season, and he's batting .313 with a .915 OPS over 34 plate appearances. He remains in a utility role, but he's done well when in the lineup, posting one home run, three RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four stolen bases. Fitzgerald's lack of an everyday role limits his fantasy viability, and his best chance at playing time is at shortstop, though Nick Ahmed has held his own there by batting .262 over 27 contests. Fitzgerald has also played in center field occasionally versus southpaws when Jung Hoo Lee is out of the lineup, though that has not been a strict platoon situation.... See More ... See Less

Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Swats first homer
Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Mets. Fitzgerald got the Giants on the board in the seventh inning. He has often found his way into the lineup versus southpaws while also serving as a right-handed bench bat. The utility man is batting .269 with a homer, four stolen bases, three RBI, five runs scored, two doubles and a triple over 28 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Swipes fourth bag
Fitzgerald went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Marlins. Fitzgerald spelled Thairo Estrada at second base for this contest. After an unimpressive start to the season, Fitzgerlad has four steals over his last five games while going 5-for-12 with three extra-base hits in that span. The 26-year-old provides cover around the infield and can also play in center, though the Giants' outfield hasn't varied much this season. Fitzgerald doesn't have an obvious path to playing time in the Giants' righty-heavy infield, so he's likely to remain a utility player unless he commands a larger role with his hitting.... Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Clubs second homer
Fitzgerald went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers. Fitzgerald opened the scoring with a third-inning blast off Clayton Kershaw. This was Fitzgerald's second homer and fourth extra-base hit over his first nine big-league games. He's hitting .250 with a 2:8 BB:K and two stolen bases in his brief audition. The versatile 26-year-old could get a long look during spring training in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Swipes two bags
Fitzgerald went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 5-2 extra-inning loss to the Padres. The pair of steals were Fitzgerald's first thefts in the majors. He's hitting .273 (6-for-22) with two walks, one home run, four RBI and two runs scored across his first seven big-league games. He's been a steady presence in center field and should close out the year in a starting role.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Another start in center field
Fitzgerald is starting in center field and batting ninth Friday versus the Dodgers. It's the second straight start in center for Fitzgerald, who hit a double and drew a bases-loaded walk in his major-league debut Thursday at Dodger Stadium. Prior to his promotion to the Giants, the versatile 26-year-old had posted a shiny .292/.365/.511 batting line with 22 homers and 32 steals in 121 games this season between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento.... Alex Pavlovic@PavlovicNBCS4H agoGiants are still trying to finalize a plan with Patrick Bailey. He has been doing some on-field work but hasn’t played because of concerns that his concussion might be lingering. “That’s what we’re worried about,” Bob Melvin said.
-
Andrew Baggarly@extrabaggs4H agoBob Melvin says the Giants will take one more day to continue monitoring Patrick Bailey, who hasn’t been available the past couple days because of head congestion that appears to be related to a cold (but could be related to his concussion from earlier this month).
