Oweh (thumb) had the fifth-year option on his contract for 2025 exercised by the Ravens. Selected 31st overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Oweh has 13 sacks across 45 appearances through his first three seasons. He's yet to top five sacks in a single season and hasn't developed as anticipated, seeing his snap rate decrease each season and bottoming out at 50 percent in 2023. Still, the Ravens have high hopes for the 25-year-old and he still has a role as a situational edge rusher. Owen underwent thumb surgery following the playoff loss to Kansas City.... See More ... Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Undergoes thumb surgery
Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters Friday that Oweh underwent thumb surgery since the Ravens lost in AFC Championship Game, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Oweh missed four games with an ankle injury earlier in the year, but it also seems as if he was dealing with a thumb issue that he's now had surgically repaired. Harbaugh mentioned that he expects Oweh's recovery to take roughly 6-to-8 weeks, which means the 2021 first-round pick should be ready for Baltimore's offseason programs, per Clifton Brown of the team's official site.... Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Finds quarterback again Sunday
Oweh recorded four tackles (four solo) including a sack and a forced fumble in Sunday's 33-31 loss versus the Browns. Oweh got off to a slow start in his third season in the league, mostly due to an ankle injury that sidelined him for four straight contests, but it now looks like he may have finally found his stride. Sunday's was his second straight game with a sack and his third in four weeks since he returned from the ankle issue. He should see a healthy dose of pass-rushing opportunities in Week 11 versus the pass-happy Bengals.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Active for Week 8
Oweh (ankle) is active for Sunday's game at Arizona, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Oweh was able to play through his ankle injury in Week 7 and he'll do so again Sunday versus the Cardinals. The linebacker recorded three tackles, including a sack, in last week's win over the Lions.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Deemed questionable for Sunday
The Ravens list Oweh (ankle) as questionable for Sunday's matchup against Arizona. Oweh has been dealing with an ankle injury much of the season, and the issue has already caused him to miss four games. The linebacker was able to suit up Week 7 versus Detroit and logged 53 percent of the Ravens' defensive snaps, but he's trending downward for Week 8 after logging a limited practice session Thursday and not practicing at all Friday. Tavius Robinson would likely see his snap count pick up again if Oweh is unable to go Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Will play vs. Lions
Oweh (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game versus Detroit, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Oweh will return from a four-game absence in Week 7, and he appears to be back to 100 percent after apparently suffering a sprained ankle in Week 2. He'll be one of Baltimore's top pass rushers against a stout Lions offensive line.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Won't play vs. Titans
Oweh (ankle) is listed as out for Sunday's game versus Tennessee. Oweh will sit out a fourth consecutive game as he recovers from an ankle injury he sustained in Week 2 at Cincinnati. Rookie fourth-rounder Tavius Robinson should continue to see an expanded role in Oweh's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: To miss third straight game
Oweh (ankle) is listed as out for Sunday's game at the Steelers, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Oweh was unable to participate at practice in any capacity during the week, so it comes as no surprise that he won't be suiting up for Week 5. Rookie fourth-rounder Tavius Robinson should continue to see increased reps as long as Oweh remains sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Still recovering from injury
Oweh (ankle) was a nonparticipant in practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Oweh hasn't played since suffering the injury in Week 2 against the Bengals, and it appears the 24-year-old may still need more time to recover. He'll try and get back on the practice field Thursday, and if he is unable to, he'll likely be on the wrong side of questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Suffers ankle injury
Oweh is dealing with a sprained ankle that he presumably suffered in Sunday's win over the Bengals, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports. Oweh played just 13 snaps in Week 2 after seeing 45 in Week 1. It's unclear how severe the sprain may be and how great of danger he is of missing Week 3 against the Colts. That should become more clear once the team releases its first injury report for the week.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Strong performance in loss
Oweh recorded seven tackles (six solo) and one sack during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Bills. Oweh led the team with seven tackles and notched his first sack of the campaign. As a rookie, the 2021 first-round pick recorded 33 tackles and five sacks across 15 appearances, and he appears on track to eclipse those numbers in 2022. Oweh will have an advantageous matchup in Week 5 against the Bengals, who've allowed a league-worst 13 sacks this season.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Remains out
Oweh (foot) is inactive Sunday against the Steelers. Oweh will miss his second consecutive contest, which will be a blow to the Ravens' linebacker unit and pass rush, as they prepare to try and earn a playoff spot against the Steelers on Sunday. In his absence, Jaylon Ferguson will likely see extra opportunity.... See More ... See Less -
Ravens' Odafe Oweh: Tallies another sack
Oweh had four tackles (three solo) and one sack during Thursday's 22-10 loss to the Dolphins. Oweh now has four sacks through his first nine appearances in what has undeniably been an impressive beginning to his career. The rookie first-round pick isn't necessarily trustworthy as a weekly fantasy asset in IDP formats yet, but he warrants monitoring heading into a Week 11 matchup against Justin Fields and the Bears' shoddy O-line.... Ravens' Jayson Oweh: Goes to Baltimore late first round
The Ravens selected Oweh in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 31st overall. Oweh is all-tools, no-skills at the moment, but he's relatively new to football and could grow quickly thanks to his truly unmatched athleticism. At 6-foot-5, 257 pounds, he's already well-built, which makes his 4.37 40, 39.5-inch vertical and 134-inch broad jump that much more absurd. There probably has never been an athlete quite like him in the NFL before, so even if he's raw he has more room for error from a skill set standpoint. The Ravens will try to get him ready to replace free-agent departure Matt Judon, but a 2022 starting role might be more realistic.... See More ... See Less
